Vergiftung: Gift ist (z.T.) ein Steroidglycosid, ähnlich dem Dihydro-

Marthosteron, das in so genannten Pedicillarien, zangenähnlichen Gebilden mit Giftdrüsen

enthalten ist. Bei Gefahr schließen sie sich und können so die Haut durchdringen. Diese

Greiffüßchen liegen zwischen den Stacheln. Sie reißen leicht ab und bleiben noch

stundenlang funktionstüchtig in der Haut stecken. Weinessig als Erste Hilfe Maßnahme.

Außerdem gibt es die passive Vergiftung durch das Essen der Gonaden, die in manchen

Gegenden als Delikatesse gelten, und während der Fortpflanzungszeit noch unbekannte

Toxine enthalten.

Die Giftwirkung ist myotoxisch, neurotoxisch und kardiotoxisch.

Die Symptome sind starker ausstrahlender Schmerz, Gefühllosigkeit, Kreislaufdysregulation,

Sprachstörungen, Lähmungen der Atemmuskulatur; Todesfälle wurden beschrieben.

Abgebrochene Stacheln bzw. die Wunden können sich infizieren, unvollständig entfernte

Stacheln können noch nach Jahren infolge einer Monarthritis durch Fremdkörpergranulome

zu Beschwerden führen.

Die Giftwirkung ist niedrig im Sommer und im Herbst und Winter hoch.

Das Gift setzt Histamin aus isolierten glatte Muskelzellen frei und aus peritonealen

Mastzellen bei Ratten.

Es konnte ein Lectin in dem Giftcocktail gefunden werden (SUL-I) der mitogen ist. Ein

Protein namens Peditoxin (bzw. dessen prosthetische Gruppe Pedoxin) s.c. oder i.m. Mäusen

verabreicht, senkte deutlich die Körpertemperatur, führte zur Sedierung und zum

anästhetischen Koma, das von Muskelerschlaffung begleitet war. In höheren Dosen kommt es

zu Konvulsionen und zum Tod. Es kann auch zum anaphylaktischen Schock kommen. ;

Proving:

The (sometimes) edible Toxopneustes exceptional because of its small spines but poisonous claws (flower-appearance). The 5 streaks of gonads in its body are edible (raw) – but during some seasons poisonous/hides by covering itself with pieces of corals and stones.

A part of the top of its shell (anus)/part of its strong shell with spines, pedicellariae (= poisonous claws)/still moving “feet”

Migraine, radiating back pain, stitching pain and numb of extremities are some of the prominent symptoms.

Provers simile: 26yrs old female prover: rather healthy, but often migraine r. forehead, like “an abscess in the brain, pulsating from within outwards”; old

skin eruption at the margin of her hair (10 years resistant to any non-homeopathic therapy), always cold hands and feet. On the same day after

taking only dose, hands began to become warm, skin eruption receded within 4 days, the migraine disappeared. Old problems came up and brought a great deal of changes in her life. But her symptoms disappeared for 6 years.

Fall: Patient: woman, 36 yrs: after myomectomy and sterilisation: migraine, which she suffered from for years and headache, that she had since childhood

disappeared. A few months after the operation: reduced vision, supraorbital pain r. side, and decreasing concentric restricted visual field with elevated ANA

(antinucleotid antibodies). Cold hands and feet, pulsating headache right forehead from within outward.

Toxop. C12 brought back the old migraine immediately, healed the neuralgia, > vision (not visual field), warmed hands, and in C 200 and higher

reduced ANA to normal. Polychrests given to reduce headache, raised the ANA titre quickly. Meanwhile she got higher potencies and got rid of the headaches and migraine as well (3 years observed).
