Comparison: Acon. + Ars. + Bell. in akute Phase
[Dr.
Ajit Kulkarni]
Acon:
The storm a remedy for the 1st stage (1st few hours of
inflammation).
1. Suddenly, 2. fierce, 3.
goes to the peak where choice of remedy can be made more clearly. Fear - fright
- anxiety + restlessness and a degree of panic comes into play strongLY. Almost
paralyzed with fear.
Acon
and Bell: Stormy Cognates acting on the
circulatory system.
Acon. = like Bell. - raving, grizzling,
grumpiness, violent temper and excitability.
Bell.
= like
Acon. - anxiety, restlessness
and fear of death.
Both represent the overwhelming
state where the patient may become critically ill in a few hours but they
differ in presentation.
Acon:
· Congestive erethism
manifested in flushing of face, hard and rapid pulse, etc.
· Febrile erethism.
· Sudden heat ohne
inflammation (can feel cold externally), which often starts off with bouts of
shivering.
· Restless/not > rest
· Red, dry skin
without perspiration. [> (foul) perspiration]
· Intense thirst for
large quantities of cold water (bitter drinks).
· One cheek red, the
other pale.
· < 22 h.
· clairvoyant dreams
and sustains shock due to fright as a cause/< music.
Look
for a different remedy then Acon. if
• The symptoms are not sudden/not intense
• There is a lingering state
• Patient is quiet and relaxed
• No aversion to touch
Bell: has a congestive erethism/red skin/wide pupils.
Both have redness and dryness,
Bell more intensely than Acon. + hot perspiration + not > + thirstless (eventually
desires lemon drink). < 15 h.
All senses are heightened and
easily < in Bell and Acon.
Bell senses
acute/hyperesthesic/hypersensitive to sensory stimuli
(light/noise/touch/jolts/sun/cold air)/> rest
Bad taste and offensive
breath/everything tastes bitter/bites.
The sensitivity pattern is
exhibited in Bell more at CNS
level. + mental disturbances
(delirious state different from Aconite).
It is the tubercular miasmatic activity, which develops heightened sensitivity
and susceptibility, bringing all sense organs into play. Hence ample stimuli
and expressions!
Look for different remedy then
Bell. if
• Slow onset
• The symptoms are not intense
• Ongoing, chronic condition
• Fear of death
• Calm with quiet mental state
Comparison: Acon. and Bell.
Acon. Acute/sudden/unbearable
pains # feelings of either numbness or ‘pins and needles.’ Pain + Feels heat
and redness
Acon. approaches with an
anxious and panicking face/agitated/restless/impatient/tossing.
Bell.
throbbing/pulsating/burning/bursting types of pain (abrupt beginning and abrupt
ending + STRONG feeling of heat and redness).
Bell. approaches with
anger and irritability/intolerable to others/eyes fierce and dilated. Can be
abusive. can’t tolerate sensory input.
Bell. follows Acon. when the shift has occurred
from anxiety - fear - panic - restlessness to anger - irritability - violence. Physically,
once the sweating has begun after Acon.
it is better to switch over to Bell.
Acon. goes for more
general/overall reaction while Bell accentuates on early localization.
Acon.
and Ars: Tossing, prostrated cognates + thirsty
Both
suddenness,
fear-fright-anxiety-restlessness and acuity (= Schärfe in mehrere
Hinsichten)/FEAR of death/Erschöpfung.
Acon predicts the time of his
death from shock (panick reacTION/convinced about own death)/restless in early
stage/after first shock find peace again.
Ars. does not/comprehends the
seriousness of the disease/anxiety much deeper, coupled + restless and
prostration. Restless in later stages when the patient loses strength out of
prostration/internal sense of insecurity, which he tries to remove through
seeking security outside/dictatorial with controlling nature/more critical and
fretful and he drives everyone to do his bidding.
Ars. much more
prostration than Acon. and this
is definitely out of proportion to the present condition. Pathology deeper due
to strong miasmatic activity. With prostration there is desire to move or be
moved constantly/exhausted from slightest exertion and this exhaustion is not
felt while lying still. Has avarice.
Fastidious/dreams of sadness,
of dead people and of embarrassment.
Thirst:
Acon.: THIRST for large
quantities of cold water
Acon. Robust/plethoric
with sedentary habits.
Ars.
frequently
repeated small sips of cold water (longs for hot water that gives relief)
Ars. lean/weak/cachectic.
Ars. appears pale and is
suffering horribly.
Look
for a different remedy then Ars. if:
· Calm, quiet and relaxed patient
· Suffering without complaints
· Thirstless
· Passive picture of illness
· Desire and
tolerance for cold drinks (this is mostly in the acute condition where there is
a craving for lemonade and cold drinks which are tolerated or vomited)
